Tsurumi expands tree initiative

Tsurumi Pumps has expanded its tree-planting project with a new initiative set to launch at tomorrow’s Executive Hire Show. Following on from its successful promotion to plant a tree in return for every pump sold throughout the 2024, the brand has now pledged to also plant a kelp plant for every pump sold complete with hose throughout 2025.

The initiative will be launched on the brand’s exhibition stand, which was created by Smart Display in line with Tsurumi Pumps’ sustainability ethos. The continued pledge to plant a tree for every pump sold builds upon the success of the same initiative last year, which saw a total of 12,052 trees planted in the UK and worldwide, smashing the brand’s original target of 10,000. The decision to expand the initiative into the plantation of kelp plants meanwhile has been introduced in a bid to reduce carbon in the race against climate change. Found along one third of the world’s coastlines, kelp is a type of seaweed that locks away millions of tonnes of carbon every year, making it a crucial carbon-capture tool.

Collectively, Tsurumi Pumps is aiming to plant in excess of 12,000 trees and kelp plants in 2025. Throughout the year, Tsurumi Pumps UK will measure, record and publicise how many trees and kelp plants have been planted and the carbon reductions made. There is a live status report on the Tsurumi Pumps website, showing progress towards the target throughout the year.

“We want to thank all our customers for supporting our carbon reduction initiatives with their Tsurumi Pump purchases and we hope they will continue to support our campaigns throughout 2025,” says Pete McMutrie, sales director at Tsurumi Pumps UK. “We welcome customers joining us in our journey to help fight climate change, and we can even register trees or kelp plants in their name if they wish to do so following any purchase of a Tsurumi Pump or Tsurumi Pump with hose.

“Sustainability is one of our key objectives and we’ll soon be launching our brand-new sustainability video which highlights the journey the business has been on since 2012 when we started to implement strategies to reduce our carbon footprint.”

Working with Smart Display is a key part of Tsurumi Pumps’ strategy to adopt a more sustainable approach to exhibition stand design. Aligning with the brand’s ethics of re-usability, Smart Displaying is re-using all of its graphics and custom components from last year’s exhibition, reinforcing brand consistency as well as keeping elements out of landfill.

The Tsurumi Pumps stand at Executive Hire Show

Tsurumi Pumps’ tree-planting project is operated in conjunction with Carma, a B Corp-certified specialist in tree-planting for carbon reduction. Trees are recognised as one of the biggest weapons in combatting climate change, absorbing and storing harmful carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and releasing back clean, breathable oxygen. Trees also help prevent flooding, reduce local temperatures and provide habitats for life.

Tsurumi Pumps is one of Smart Display’s six clients exhibiting at the Executive Hire Show at the Coventry Building Society Arena tomorrow and Thursday. The brand is joined by Först, Golz, the Hire Supply Company, Seddon Plant & Engineering and Trime, all of whom opted to work with Smart Display again following successful stand installations last year.
