The whole nine yards
The new exhibition season is well and truly underway for the Smart Display team, with installations currently taking place at nine different venues this week alone. This week marks the start of show season for a diverse range of industries, and the experts at Smart Display have drawn upon all of their resources and logistics to carry out stand builds at the NEC, the ExCeL, Stoneleigh Park, the Lowry Hotel in Manchester, the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, and further afield in Messe Frankfurt and Messe Stuttgart.
Co-ordinating nine stand builds simultaneously is no easy task but, with a decade of experience in planning and installing, the experts at Smart Display are up to the challenge. Each job starts with a full prebuild on-site, and an all-encompassing approach to project management to ensure a smooth installation on the day. Keeping control of the process from concept to build is at the very core of the company’s ethos, and every member of the team is dedicated to making it happen.
“We always get the stand over the line,” says Alex Mcgrath, Smart Display’s installation manager, and longest-serving member of the warehouse team. “It means working until the job is done, and often under the scrutiny of health & safety officials or the clients themselves. But even after all these years and hundreds if not thousands of builds, we have never missed a deadline.”
The increase in demand for Smart Display’s services has led to a recruitment drive this summer, and the addition of new faces within both the installations and production teams.
“When I joined in 2018, there were only two of us in the department,” says Alex. “Six years on, we have grown as a business and established a full team.”
Each an expert in their field, every stand-fitter, joiner and project manager has been appointed with a view to delivering the service that Smart Display’s clients have come to expect as standard. In fact, of the stands currently being built across the UK and Germany this week, all nine are returning clients who have once again put their faith in Smart Display, following successful shows in the past.
First over the line is turbocharger supplier Melett, a longstanding client of Smart Display whose stand is installed and ready to go for the opening of Automechanika at Messe Frankfurt tomorrow.
“We have used Smart Display for a number of years and the whole team from design and production through to installation are knowledgeable, professional and personable,” says Rebecca Johnson, Melett’s marketing executive. “The team are always on hand to help with any questions or queries. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough!”
Today and tomorrow will see further installations taking place for Mocap at AMB Stuttgart, Geminor at Resource & Waste Management, Valmont at Connected Britain, Robinsons at London Packaging Week, Ariens at Groundsfest, Visualsoft at Reload Summit, Veracyte at CoBrCa and The Barking Bakery at Glee.
