The sky’s the limit
The wait is almost over for the aviation industry to come together and work together towards a more efficient, sustainable and greener future, and Farnborough will once again be the setting for the hub of innovation. The Farnborough International Airshow is the most hotly-anticipated event of the aviation calendar, and this year is set to add further dimensions of education, research and demonstrations as the sector works harder than ever to make net zero a reality.
This year’s show will build upon the successful 2022 edition, which was opened by then-Prime Minister Boris Johnson and later attended by 17 Ministers and 30 Members of Parliament. A key theme once again is AAM – advanced air mobility – and professionals at the show will exhibit and discover new means of transporting passengers and freight efficiently with a lower carbon footprint, through all-electric or hybrid-electric-means, with on-board pilots, remote control or self-driving technology.
Alongside hosting a wide portfolio of exhibitors – who will take over four halls of the Farnborough International Centre – the Farnborough International Airshow will offer visitors a daily flying display. Taking place every afternoon of the show, the display incorporates the most advanced aircraft in both commercial and military design, and Is enhanced with illustrative commentary broadcast across the exhibition site. Visitors can view over 40 aircraft take to the air from the Farnborough Aerodrome, which offers a natural amphitheatre effect. Around 55 aircraft will also be on show as part of the static display.
Smart Display is proud to be part of this pioneering event, installing on behalf of The Satellite Applications Catapult. The Catapult is at the heart of the satellite services revolution, shaping and sustaining the world of tomorrow by connecting industry and academia and getting new research off the ground.
Space is running low for the forthcoming edition, but exhibitors can still register their interest here. There are six key themes running through the show, designed to assist visitors to network with similar businesses and discover opportunities relevant to them. Space, Defence, Sustainability, Innovation, Future Flight and Workforce are the themes for 2024, characterised as follows;

Exploring every aspect of the world above our skies from passenger flights to the commercialisation of space for business, the Space Zone will push the boundaries of what is possible in years to come.
DEFENCE – Responding to the challenges facing the modern world, The Farnborough International Airshow 2024 continues to play a vital role in bringing defence companies together with the strategic decision-makers behind military delegations at the show.
