The inside story

Smart Display may be best-known for its work with exhibition stands, but this month saw the team adapt its expertise for commercial interiors and something a whole lot more permanent. Having entrusted Smart Display with its exhibition stands for over three years, NVent commissioned the team to overhaul its showroom and office space at its Sheffield facility for its subsidiary NVent Hoffman, asking installers to recreate the branding already used on its exhibition stands to create a welcoming and functional environment for staff and customers alike.

With regular installations at venues all over Europe up to four times a year, the team was already familiar with the NVent concept. Working to a strict completion deadline, the team adapted its Foamex features and paint finishes in the brand’s exact Pantones for its commercial interiors, while also taking care of the professional plastering and wiring throughout the showroom and office areas.

“There were a lot of benefits for us in working with a company already familiar with our exhibition presence,” says NVent’s EMEAI marketing manager Cristina Sanchez. “Our colleagues in head office recommended Smart Display to us to create our branded office with a new service centre in the UK, and the team has been very satisfied. The project ran smoothly and was completed within days and within the specified deadline.”

It’s not the first time that Smart Display has worked on refitting showrooms and commercial interiors for one of its existing clients. Last year the exhibition stand specialist took a break from temporary architecture to overhaul Valmont’s Stockton-upon-Tees-based showroom.

“We were already working with Valmont to transform its branding into a strong exhibition presence at trade shows across the UK,” says Smart Display’s sales manager Ben Rose. “Our main point of contact – sales & marketing director Maggie Pytlas – mentioned that the brand’s showroom needed a makeover, and we offered to develop our design and installation into a more permanent structure at Valmont’s HQ.”

Recognising the strong potential to create a cohesion between its temporary exhibition stands and its flagship showroom, Valmont invited the Smart Display team to its premises at Stockton-upon-Tees, and the project began.

“We did have a bit of a time limit,” says Ben. The Valmont team had overseas guests arriving and were keen for the showroom to be showstopping ahead of their arrival. But we strong vision for the area which would maximise its potential and, following the approval of the design, the actual installation was completed within a four-day turnaround and finished ahead of schedule.”

The end result incorporated elements of Valmont’s exhibition presence, including echoes of the di-bond aluminium around its hallmark V-shaped logo, the brushed metal finishes and the grey carpeting. The cohesion between Valmont’s exhibition stands and its flagship showroom creates a holistic and familiar environment for visitors, reinforcing its branding and alluding to a consistent and recognisable identity that customers can rely on.
