Textural progression
The world of technical textiles is once again in the spotlight this season as the industry gathers at Techtextil in Frankfurt. Bringing together professionals from all over the world who are concerned with the manufacture and treatment of textiles, textile machinery and the quality control of textiles to BS, EN and ISO Standards, Techtextil returns to its home at Messe Frankfurt on 23 – 26 April this year.
This edition of the bi-annual show is particularly poignant in its capacity as the first event to be completely unaffected by the restrictions associated with the Covid pandemic. Brands that opted out of the 2022 show have returned en masse for 2024, including a vast range of new businesses, which will be given a high-visibility platform to help them to connect with the right visitors.
“It’s a strong signal that exhibitors we missed at Techtextil and Texprocess 2022 have announced their participation again for the coming year,” says Sabine Scharrer, director at Techtextil and sister show Texprocess. “This confirms the international relevance of the two fairs; we offer the industry’s most important innovation platform for presenting products and technologies to an international audience, exchanging ideas with the industry and expanding knowledge.”
The renewed interest in Techtextil was echoed at the most recent ITMA events, which saw editions in Milan last June and Shanghai in October. Focusing on technical textiles, textile technology and garment solutions, ITMA is the biggest gathering of textiles professionals in the world, and has seen a resurgence of enthusiasm in the post-covid years.
“Following the Corona virus set back, the textile industry is excited to move forward,” says Ernesto Maurer, president of Cematex and organiser of events including ITMA Asia. “Due to a remarkable recovery in local demand, there is a need to expand production capacity quickly and to invest in new machinery to stay competitive.”
ITMA Asia concluded successfully on 23 November 2023 at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC) in Shanghai, and the five-day exhibition featured an exciting showcase of textile machinery from the entire manufacturing value chain. It attracted the strong participation of textile professionals eager to explore the latest automation and sustainable technologies.”
For Smart Display, the resurgence in events with similar target visitor demographics offers the chance to maximise clients’ potential across a full exhibition schedule. In line with the brand’s business model to re-use stand elements and keep materials out of landfill, taking on clients for several cross-sector events is a cost-effective, time-saving and sustainable solution for professionals within the sector.
“The first question we ask our clients is what is your exhibition schedule, and are you looking to achieve a sense of brand cohesion throughout your exhibition season,” says Smart Display sales manager Ben Rose. “With a full print and lighting studio and a workshop of qualified joiners in-house, we can execute a full design concept for each client, reconfiguring and refreshing it as necessary between events to deliver a reinforced brand message with maximum efficiency through the season.”
Having design and installed stands such as the impressive 10 x 4m structure for Avient (formerly Magna Colours) at last year’s ITMA, Smart Display is now in talks with British textile companies with regards with to their presence at Techtextil and subsequent events such as ITMA Hannover.
