Standing together

More clients than ever are arriving at Smart Display as a result of personal recommendations from their professional peers.

Having always seen an impressive rate of return custom – around seventy per cent of all business – Smart Display has identified an emerging trend for repeat business within specified industries. The growth within sectors – such as highway maintenance, security, dental and hire services – is being attributed to new clients seeking a recommended stand designer from established exhibitors when it comes to choosing the right partner for exhibition stand design and build.

“We’ve always been proud of our reputation which is reinforced through our Google reviews,” says Smart Display’s sales manager Ben Rose. “However, nothing beats the reassurance of a personal recommendation from a fellow exhibitor, and this is where we are seeing an influx of new enquiries from clients who have been referred by our existing customers.”

New customers are being referred to Smart Display as a recommended stand designer having either seen and admired a stand build at their industry event, or having asked their contemporaries within the sector for a personal recommendation. When Westcotec was approached by fellow traffic management company Roadside Technologies, those at the helm of the business were only too happy to share the details of the installer they had trusted with their own exhibition stand.

“Exhibitions are fast paced and unforgiving, so having a trusted stand partner like Smart Display makes a huge difference,” says Olly Samways, sales director at Westcotec. “Roadside were looking to enhance their presence at events and, from experience, I knew Smart Display would offer the kind of creativity, professionalism and reliability that would reflect well on their brand. When you are launching new innovations, it is essential to work with suppliers who understand how to present them properly; Smart Display have always delivered that for us.”

As a result, Smart Display has now installed twice for Roadside Technologies at NEC-based exhibition Highways UK, and will take the brand overseas for the first time next month for Intertraffic Amsterdam. The traffic industry is particular is becoming a key focus for Smart Display, with eight clients in total trusting the installer to take care of their exhibition stand design and build and passing on the installer’s details as a recommended stand designer .

As a business, we only recommend partners we genuinely trust,” continues Olly. “Westcotec are proud to be in a strategic partnership with Roadside Technologies since July 2024; a relationship built on shared values – particularly around innovation – customer service and delivering trusted, high quality highways solutions. It is absolutely key therefore to both be working with a stand builder that we trust. It means we can focus on our customers and our messaging, knowing that everything behind the scenes is being handled professionally. That kind of relationship isn’t just helpful, it is essential when you are trying to make a strong impression in a competitive environment. Smart Display have supported us at major events since 2017, consistently providing a service we can rely on.”

Over in the security sector, regular client Metador agrees that trust is of paramount importance when it comes to allowing a contractor to take care of your exhibition presence.

“It is critical that we continue working with a stand builder we can trust to ensure our brand is well represented at the exhibitions and reflect the quality our customers come to expect from us,” says Metador’s head of marketing Alwyn Evershed. “B&B Locks are a supplier of hardware to Metador for specialist projects, and we recommended Smart Display to them because our own experience remains very positive, with the team really paying attention to our needs, committing to our brand purpose and conveying this well to our audience.”
