Business capital

Frankfurt is cementing its position as the business capital of Germany with a bolstered roster of shows at Messe Frankfurt in 2026. With biennial events such as Techtextil, Light & Building and Fastener Expo returning next year, dates at the venue have been in high demand. Annual shows already confirmed to take place throughout the first half of 2026 include Heimtextil, Ambiente, Prolight & Sound and Tech Show, making up a diverse portfolio of trade events across the full spectrum of industry sectors.

Since the post-pandemic return of exhibitions in 2022, the appeal of Messe Frankfurt has soared for multi-faceted reasons. Its accessible location at the heart of West Europe, frequent flight, rail and road links and 11,500 hotel rooms within walking distance make the venue an increasingly popular choice for event organisers. Next year will see an average of two events per week take place at the Messe – a four-fold increase in the number of events since 2003.

“Trade fairs stand for stability, progress and human interaction,” says Wolfgang Marzin, president and chief executive officer of Messe Frankfurt. “Particularly in difficult geopolitical and economic climates, our customers set great store by personal contact and international networking. Messe Frankfurt is there for its customers in all relevant markets and is systematically expanding its global portfolio and approximately 60 locations.”

Wolfgang’s sentiments have been reflected in the increased participation of both exhibitors and visitors at each of its individual shows at Messe Frankfurt in 2026. Techtextil for example – the biennial exhibition for technical textiles – is already on track to surpass its 1700-strong exhibitor line up of 2024 with eight months still to go.

“The outstanding level of bookings shows the industry is seeking for global visibility more than ever,” says Sabine Scharrer, director brand management for technical textiles & textile processing at Messe Frankfurt. “The key lies in finding the right partners for pioneering innovations and unlocking market opportunities.”

In addition to signing up early to shows at Messe Frankfurt in 2026, exhibitors are making a head start on the design and installation of their stands for 2026 shows.

“Particularly when an event only occurs every two years, there is more pressure on businesses to maximise the potential of their exhibition presence,” says Smart Display’s sales manager Ben Rose. “We are already in talks with returning customers who want us to build upon their presence at the previous edition of their show – often re-using elements in line with their sustainability commitments – and potential new clients who are looking for an established and experienced partner to take their presence out to Messe Frankfurt.”
