Safety first

The UK’s biggest event for health and safety returns for its annual edition next week, and the NEC is poised to welcome 11,000 visitors to connect with 300 exhibitors. The figures are both up on last year’s event, which saw attendance levels reach 8000, and a portfolio of 250 exhibitors, indicating the Health & Safety event is becoming more prominent across the industry.

Dedicated to improving occupational health and safety standards in the workplace, the exhibition is relevant to the full spectrum of industry sectors, targeting any business responsible for the health and wellbeing of its staff. Co-located with the Fire Safety Event, the Security Event, the Workplace Event and the National Cyber Security Show – all of which are accessible to visitors via one registration – the exhibition will present over 10,000 products and solutions to attendees including representatives from brands such as BT, Holland & Barrett, Domino’s, Amazon and Virgin Media.

As the industry’s trusted partner for exhibition stand design and build, Smart Display is already packed and ready to go with five stands to install at the NEC in time for doors opening on Tuesday. Building for QDos and Vox Ignis at the Fire Safety Event and A-Safe, Nebosh and Westcotec at the Health & Safety Event, the Smart Display team is once again out in force.

“We’ve increased our presence to a larger stand build this year, allowing us to display products targeted at private sites,” says Olly Samways, sales director at Westcotec, returning to the exhibition for the third year running. “We decided to get involved in the Health & Safety Event to expand into another market beyond the highways sector, and we are part of the ‘Driving for Better Business’ contingent at the event.

“ We are taking an interactive HGV measurement system with a remote controlled truck, speed signs and ANPR cameras to educate drivers about remotely monitoring speeds on site. We have just returned from Intertraffic in Amsterdam – where we had the most impressive stand build to date thanks to the team at Smart Display – so we are looking forward to meeting more people at the NEC.”

The Driving for Better Business initiative has partnered with Highways England to create a new dedicated feature at the exhibition, the Driver Safety Zone. Designed to share vital information and resources with professionals who have responsibility for work-related road risk, the Zone aims to reduce the thousands of injuries every year resulting from employees driving for their work.

Other areas of interest include asbestos control, respiratory health, drug and alcohol testing, first aid, environmental waste and management, fall prevention, gas detection, lone worker safety, risk assessment, training and qualifications and warehouse safety.

Industry bodies have thrown their support behind the event, with IOSH (the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health), government body the Health & Safety Executive, BSIF (British Safety Industry Federation), UKATA (UK Asbestos Training Association), National Highways, SAFed (the Safety Assessment Federation) and SHEP (Safety & Health in Engineering Partnership) having confirmed their attendance at the show.

Visitors can register here, while exhibitors within the sector can get in touch with Smart Display to see how we can make your next exhibition stand your most impressive to date at your next event.
