CASE STUDY: Omniplex
WHO are Omniplex?
Omniplex Learning combines leading platforms, authoring tools and expertise to help organisations create, manage and deliver impactful learning experiences. Established in 1991, Omniplex Learning aims to improve the learning experience for clients all over the world with a seamless solution that delivers learning tools and services in one place.
WHAT is their exhibition mission?
Having secured a substantial 72 sq m space in a prominent position at Learning Technologies last April, Omniplex Learning approached Smart Display asking us to create a stand design that reflected and justified its prime location. The position ensured that the stand was the first thing visitors would see upon arrival, so the brief called for high-level, eye-catching branding in the brand’s primary colours.
The team requested;
- A design which incorporates the shape of the logo into its features
- Demo stations which can be locked in place without taking up too much space on the stand
- Engagement points to draw visitors onto the stand
- An open design where all areas are visible
- An inviting layout which also deters visitors from walking through the area
- More video content and screens to entice people to our stand
- A refreshment area serving frozen yoghurt
- Lockable storage space
- Re-usable elements that can be used at future events
WHERE do they exhibit?
Our initial build for Omniplex Learning was at the London ExCeL for the Learning Technologies exhibition in April 2025. The brand has subsequently appointed us to propose a new design for the same show this year.
HOW is the impact delivered?
Our design echoed the curved edges of the logo’s x shape in two curved hanging banners, a curved archway, two curved reception counters, curved decking and flooring and two large bespoke logos, one with halo lighting.
Client engagement was achieved through a bespoke interactive coin counter which provided an insight into visitors’ learning behaviour, as well as attracting attention. We also positioned an interactive lego station at the centre of the stand to engage visitors.

We kept three sides of the stand open to create a welcoming atmosphere, while adding a raised deck and strategically-placed counters, interactive points and a video wall to deter visitors from using the stand as a throughfare.
We implemented an LED video wall created from tiles to curve around the edges of the wall in line with the shape of the logo. This created an instant impact for visitors arriving into the hall. The stand also featured six, separate screens functioning as demo stations.

For hospitality, we incorporated an ice cream counter with LED lighting and an etched acrylic guard with LED features to make the etching glow.
WHY Smart Display?
We were briefed to make an impact, but we were careful not to be wasteful with our eye-catching features. Within this project, the halo-lit logo and large Foamex logo are re-usable, as are the fabrics, the custom reception counter, ice cream counter, lego counter and coin collector. Our client is already working with us for a repurposed design this year, combining brand consistency and cost-efficiency with a sustainable approach to exhibition stand build.
The team praised the designers’ creativity in implementing points of engagement, and reported that visitor traffic increased as a result of these design features. The client also reported that the curved video wall created the desired impact in stopping visitors in their tracks as they arrived into the hall, and diverting their attention away from that of competing stands.
