Ocean in motion
Bi-annual trade exhibition Ocean Business has confirmed that floorspace for its 2025 edition has almost sold out, five months ahead of doors opening.
The event – which will return to its home at Southampton’s National Oceanography Centre on 8-10 April next year – is anticipating in excess of 5,000 visitors, following record-breaking figures at its most recent edition in 2023.
Having carved a niche for designing and installing stands within the subsea sector at events including the Subsea Expo, Oceanology and Global Offshore Wind, Smart Display is already in talks with a range of exhibitors looking to maximise their presence at this essential event.
“There is so much scope for creativity in a sector as dynamic as the subsea industry,” says Smart Display’s sales manager Ben Rose. “Following the statement designs we have created for pioneering brands such Beam, we have had companies approach us asking to start from scratch with a brand new stand design that creates the right impact at a show such as Ocean Business.”
And according those at the helm of the event, standing out from the competition is becoming even more of a challenge as the show grows and becomes busier and more diverse than ever.
“Ocean Business is one of the most vibrant industry networking opportunities of the year,” says Phil Bishop, head of commercial development at the National Oceanography Centre. “There was an incredible amount of excitement and activity throughout all three days of the event, and we are already looking forward to Ocean Business returning to the NOC in 2025.”
The show organiser itself admitted that the event had “exceeded all expectations”, creating a very real sense of optimism that this 2025 edition will be even busier and better-attended than its 2023 counterpart.
“The stars were aligned for last year’s show, and it was wonderful to see so many friends, Ocean Business regulars and an emerging generation of innovators,” says show organiser Cheri Arvonio. “Exhibitors reported brisk business and newly-forged friendships, and people were evidently enjoying meeting up inside and outside the main exhibition spaces.”
The 2025 edition of Ocean Business comes at an exciting time for the subsea sector, with cutting-edge developments in robotic technology paving the way for a new, sustainable way of working and rapid advancement in mapping the ocean and the increasing use of artificial intelligence. The bi-annual nature of the event ensures that each edition is abundant with new product, developments and ideas following a full 24 months of research, development and innovation.
