Mission: Interplas
Triennial trade show Interplas has begun the yearly countdown to its next edition with a plea to exhibitors to join its sustainability mission with their exhibition stand design. The UK’s only event dedicated to the plastics industry is looking to redefine the reputation of this often-vilified material into an essential and effective tool for all aspects of industry.
Interplas is calling upon its loyal exhibitor base to join its mission with a few simple steps to make the event as sustainable as possible. Advice includes opting for digital methods of communication, avoiding disposable giveaways and – most importantly – partnering with a UK-based exhibitor with a strong focus on re-using stand elements.
What our exhibitors can do*
- Discover new partners and innovate. Consider investing in a modular stand design which can be re-used at multiple shows.
- Hire UK-based stand builders who are sustainably conscious
- Make use of the event platform / app for digital assets / QR codes instead of bringing print material
- Ensure giveaways are not throwaway items and have a useful purpose for visitors, ensuring your brand is visible for a longer period

It’s the next stage of the journey for the event, which for seven decades years has pioneered the use of plastics and their innovation. As a triennial event, the pressure is on each edition to deliver new and contemporary product and content, leaving industry professionals with enough education and inspiration to define the next three years.
“For over 75 years, Interplas – the UK’s leading plastics exhibition and conference – has seen plastic transform our way of life,” says a spokesperson for event organiser Rapid News Group. “Today, at a time of great change in the plastics industry, Interplas is more important than ever to ensure vital intelligence, innovation and technology reaches the UK market.”
Smart Display is committed to best sustainable practice in exhibition stand installation, re-using as many elements as possible to keep materials out of landfill. Such ethics however are not at the expense of any aesthetics, as the company’s glowing five-star rated feedback confirms from a wide range of satisfied customers confirmed.
“Having our Smart Display stand at the past edition of Interplas attracted one million per cent more people than we saw at our previous show,” says Jamie Shaw, co-founder of oil management specialist OMS Lubritek. “Interplas is a vibrant show with machines running and robots spinning around, but I really felt that we had a presence. And more importantly, we had a much better presence than our competitors.”
Like 80 per cent of the 600-strong line-up of exhibitors at Interplas, Jamie rebooked for the 2026 edition at its 2023 counterpart, and OMS Lubritek will be back on board with Smart Display for its exhibition stand design once again. With dates for next year’s edition confirmed as 2-4 June, the yearly countdown is officially on, and Smart Display is bringing on new clients looking for a striking yet sustainable stand design.
