Q&A: Emily Turner

Smart Display is expanding again, and our newest recruit is focused on dynamic new ideas and delivering interactive exhibition stand design services. Three days into her new role, we caught up with business development manager Emily Turner to find out what’s in store for the next era of Smart Display.

Q: What’s your background prior to joining the team at Smart Display?

A: Since graduating in Fashion from the University of Derby, I’ve held positions in fuel sales and event management at Cedar Court hotels. As the manager of all internal events at Cedar Court – from Bongo Bingo to 80s vs 90s nights – I discovered I love the buzz of events and the organisation that goes into making events happen.

Q: What made you want to join Smart Display?

A: It’s a mixture of sales and events, which really appeals to me. I like seeing new faces and I love to build a rapport with clients, so I like that I will be developing relationships with clients that focus on longevity and building that business from one event to the next.

Q: What has been your first impression of Smart Display?

A: It’s creative, professional and friendly. Stand building across the sectors means that this is a very diverse role, and I am looking forward to thinking outside the box to introduce dynamic and interactive elements to stands, whatever the industry.

Q: How have your first few days been in your new role?

A: Really positive. I went down to the NAEC in Stoneleigh yesterday to meet three of our clients exhibiting at the Road Transport Expo. It was great seeing the stand builds firsthand and hearing the feedback from clients, all of which was really positive. It was inspirational too to see some of the more dynamic stands and start to think of ideas of my own for new clients looking for a new direction with their stand presence.

Q: How do you relax outside of work?

A: I love travelling, particularly solo travelling, My recent trips have included destinations such as Iceland, Mexico, Croatia and Greece, and I love the opportunity to meet new faces and find out people’s stories.
