Designs on the future
Design in Mental Health (DIMH) has its sights firmly set on a new era of development with a relocation to a bigger venue this June. After a decade at its home in the Coventry Building Society Arena, the exhibition relocates to Manchester Central for its event on 4th and 5th June, expanding into the award-winning venue with a view to increasing its geographical reach as well as its square metreage.
“We leave Coventry – our home for over ten years – with many fond memories and great pride in our roots in the Midlands,” says Victoria Emerton, the exhibition’s conference director. “However, in order that the event can grow and continue to expand its contribution to driving excellence in mental health built-environments, it is time for a move.
“As the name suggests, Manchester Central benefits from a city centre location and this, coupled with the city’s excellent transport links, means that Designs in Mental Health will be more accessible than ever before. This is important for both our UK-based visitors, and our increasing international audience, which made up nearly ten per cent of delegates in 2023.”
Organised by Step Exhibitions in conjunction with the Design in Mental Health Network, DIMH aims to improve mental health outcomes by promoting knowledge exchange and improving the standards of design in mental health settings. Professionals involved in building, equipping or refurbishing facilities for mental health are invited to attend the show to be inspired by the designs and innovations of the future.
A leading provider in its field, Recornect will be in attendance on stand 319, showcasing its latest innovations in de-escalation technology. This portfolio of niche solutions is an essential tool for professionals in high security facilities seeking to communicate with service-users in crisis, and ultimately de-escalate situations efficiently.
Having worked with Recornect for three years, Smart Display is proud to be part of its mission to improve the delivery of support and services at the high security end of the mental health spectrum.
“At Recornect, we develop our products to be safe, intuitive, and reliable and, to convey this effectively to our customers, it is important that our booth stand reflects these qualities,” says Maarten van de Sande, MSc, Recornect’s sales manager. “Smart Display has greatly assisted us in achieving this, and they were willing and able to make adjustments along the way. The collaboration went smoothly, and our questions were addressed quickly and professionally.”
DIMH is organised by its conference advisory group, a cross-disciplinary group of experts including mental health campaigners, NHS directors, chartered architects, healthcare planners and heads of public healthcare bodies.
