Behind the brand: Metador

When Metador approached Smart Display with a full schedule of trade events throughout 2025, the team had a very clear vision of how its exhibition presence should be defined. As a specialist in flexible, collaborative and bespoke design itself, Metador was seeking a partner to not only create a stand design that reflected its branding, but also reconfigure and develop it for a series of trade events in different sectors.

The subsequent collaboration opened several doors for Metador, which is preparing for its second of four trade events next week. Having made its Smart Display debut at the Security Event earlier this month, the industry leader in steel doors will return to the NEC for the FIT Show next month with a reconfigured version of its exhibition stand.

“Our relationship with Smart Display is a strong one, overseeing the execution of our exhibition stands,” says Metador’s head of marketing Alwyn Evershed. “We do have elements of our stand that we have re-used, which is beneficial as it reduces the overall cost when spread over a number of exhibitions throughout the year. But more than that, the benefits of returning to the same stand designer time after time means that there is a consistent refinement process; challenges are recognised and solutions can be presented by the time of the next build. In addition, any new ideas are easily incorporated with a trusting relationship built between us and the stand designer.”

Having first unveiled its stand as a 12 x 3.5m configuration at this month’s Security Event, Metador will occupy a 8 x 7m space at next week’s FIT Show.

“We have tweaked things like additional logos, shelving, and introducing more screens to present our brand video,” continues Alwyn. “Although we have only completed one exhibition with Smart Display so far, the project management side has been excellent with well-managed logistics, and the benefit of looking what we can improve for the first time.”

Following on from the FIT Show, Smart Display will once again install for Metador at two further exhibitions this year, reinforcing its brand identity with an 8 x 6m space and a 4.28m x 3.29m at two new venues. Re-using the stand design not only delivers a consistent and recognisable brand message, but also keeps materials out of landfill in line with Metador’s sustainability goals.

“Our business values were aligned with those of Metador from day one,” says Smart Display’s sales manager Ben Rose. “The brand delivers across a range of sectors – manufacturing quality steel doors with a flexible and bespoke approach to its design – and that’s something which really struck a chord with our own design process. Working with the team on four exhibitions has allowed us to develop and improve the design concept from one show to the next and, on a personal level, it helps to be delivering the project for the same familiar faces on-site.”

Alwyn agrees that working with the same team can make life easier from build day through to pull-out after the event.

“It certainly helps to see the team on site and they are fantastic guys!” he says. “They are eager to make the best of the job they possibly can, and they are easy to communicate with, leaving us free to focus our attention on capturing as many new leads as possible, demonstrating our products to existing customers, strengthening relationships and continuing as the market leader in steel door manufacturing.”
