Behind the brand: Green Gourmet
For all of Smart Display’s clients, the design process starts with getting to the heart of the brand’s identity. And, when Green Gourmet came on board towards the end of last year, the multi-faceted nature of the company was immediately apparent, with layer upon layer of innovation and inspiration just waiting to be brought to life by Smart Display’s design team.
Established in 1991, Green Gourmet has always been ahead of its time when it comes to food innovation. Priding itself on not only creating but promoting nutritious and healthy food and snacks to the education, leisure and retail sectors, Green Gourmet has the recipe just right when it comes to food innovation.
“Green Gourmet is a food innovation company,” says the brand’s graphic designer Nigel Whitehouse. “We are experts in education catering, proudly serving in the sector for over 25 years.”
Green Gourmet quite literally has its roots in the school catering sector, and is passionate about improving not only nutrition but taste in school canteens, long before Jamie Oliver came on the scene. The brand innovatively brough Dragons’ Den star Levi Roots to selected schools in the UK to introduce children to Caribbean-style meals, and more recently collaborated with World Book Day®, creating a fabulous lunchtime theme day for school children featuring a tasty and nutritious World Book Day menu and fun sheet giving school children the opportunity to discuss their favourite books while enjoying a healthy hot meal with friends.
Having evolved beyond school catering, Green Gourmet also flexes its foodservice expertise across the airline, leisure and retail sectors. The brand’s flourishing identity meant it was the perfect time to invest into its exhibition presence, and there was one clear choice when it came to selecting a stand-builder to take Green Gourmet into its next chapter.
“We were looking for simplicity and effectiveness, and a stand that can be re-used,” says Nigel. “Smart Display has been excellent with their clear communications and design ideas, and have been pro-active with all aspects of tasks for the upcoming shows.”
Smart Display was tasked with creating a stand for Green Gourmet’s participation at Assist at the Glasgow Hilton this May, and later for LACA at the Birmingham Hilton in July. In the name of sustainability and efficiency, the elements are to be adapted between the 4 x 2m and 3 x 2m spaces respectively, with the strong brand message being adapted between a stand with two walls, and its successor with three walls.
“Smart Display really delivered on design ideas, communication and presentation,” continues Nigel. “We’ve been exhibiting for many years at education trade shows such as LACA and Assist but we love trying new things. From fish tanks to mad scientists, we have created many innovative and eye-catching stands over the years and the creative process of stand design is always fun, right through to seeing the stand build, and of course the event itself.”
With both stand designs approved and signed off, those at the helm of Green Gourmet can turn their attention to their unique product portfolio while Smart Display takes care of all its exhibition logistics.
“We’ve always enjoyed the social aspect of exhibitions and it’s great to see everyone celebrating and showcasing their products in the important sector of education catering,” says Nigel. “Our brand is a promise to customers new or old that Green Gourmet is passionate about being the best in our sector. LACA and Assist are vital to view what fantastic products and services are available to help school children across the UK receive the world class education catering they deserve. And there is plenty of great food to be tasted too!”
If you are heading to Assist or LACA, make sure you head to Green Gourmet to discover the future of nutritious and tasty education catering.
