A positive prognosis
International trade fair Medica is predicting its best event to date as its dates are confirmed for its 2025 edition. Returning to Messe Düsseldorf on 17-20 November, the largest B2B trade fair for the medical industry is tipped to have a more diverse exhibitor showcase than ever, with the list already representing 72 countries worldwide.
For the UK, the show is increasing in prominence thanks to its focus on innovation in medical imaging, laboratory technology, diagnostics and medical consumables. Acting as an essential platform from which to launch new ideas, visitors already have the date firmly in their diaries as an opportunity to see new medical innovation first.
From an exhibitor perspective, last year saw 189 British companies make the journey over to Düsseldorf to showcase their products and services to the global sector. And with visitor numbers anticipated to top 80,000 this time around, there is more opportunity than ever for UK brands to connect with a global audience.
“MEDICA is unique in its global reach”, says Marius Berlemann, Chief Operating Officer of Messe Düsseldorf. “The best options for global networking are on offer, along with an incredible variety of cutting-edge innovations and top-level programme highlights.”
Numbers aside, those at the helm of the event attribute as much importance to the calibre of visitors as they do the footfall. A survey of last year’s visitors indicated that over 90 per cent of those in attendance had decision-making responsibility – making the vast majority of delegates a potentially valuable connection for the assembled exhibitors.
“This boosts our exhibitors’ business,” says Christian Grosser, director of health & medical technologies at Messe Düsseldorf. “Overall, the trade fair’s success shows us that the international competition for leadership in medical technology innovation is gaining momentum.”
UK exhibitors in attendance at last year’s event included industry leaders such as Randox and Eurofins Electrical UK. With seven months to go until the exhibition opens its doors, industry experts say that the next month or so is the perfect time for exhibitors to start focusing on their exhibition presence strategy.
“While we generally work to a 12-week turnaround from concept to completion, it is beneficial to allow a little longer for clients exhibiting overseas,” says Ben Rose, sales manager at Smart Display and an expert in the design and installation of exhibition stands. “At Smart Display we take care of every aspect of the client’s exhibition presence, which includes the logistics of moving elements and goods through customs. Having a bit of extra time helps the production team to get all of that in place, while signing a design off early allows our clients to focus on other aspects of their business in the lead up to the show, safe in the knowledge that they will fly into Germany to be greeted by a fully-functioning exhibition stand ready for doors opening.”
